The Role
The Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and control systems. This role requires technical expertise, a positive, proactive attitude toward teamwork, health and safety, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of the work.
Responsibilities
- Unload, carry, and transport tools and equipment from the storage location to the worksite and back.
- Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn and work is carried out safely.
- Maintain tools, safety equipment, and company vehicles clean and in good working condition to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Ensure proper organization and safe storage of tools and equipment after use
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and service across all tasks.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
- Assist in maintaining high safety standards on-site and within the team.
- Participate in safety meetings and training to stay updated on best practices and safety regulations.
- Commission and diagnose HVAC systems.
- Commission and diagnose electrical single and three-phase systems, as well as control systems.
- Fault finding and commissioning on VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow), control, and BMS (Building Management Systems).
- Fault finding and commissioning of steam systems and boilers.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and plant areas as per contractual obligations.
- Ensure that VRF systems are addressed, terminated, interlocked, and commissioned correctly.
- Draw up and present complete commissioning reports to supervisors and engineers.
- Fill out weekly timesheets, job sheets, and preventive maintenance site work orders accurately and promptly.
- Actively participate in the promotion of a safe working environment, ensuring that all incidents and near-misses are reported and that corrective actions are taken where necessary.
- Organize and plan tools and materials required for each task.
- Assist supervisors and engineers with work planning, quality control, and client relationship management.
- Motivate and lead trade assistants and junior technicians to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of quality.
- Act as a mentor, sharing technical skills and knowledge with junior team members, fostering a collaborative and learning environment.
- Maintain discipline, safety, and deadlines within the team.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or engineers.
- Participate in on-call duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC systems, and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in developing and guiding junior team members.
