The Role
Responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of buildings, bridges, and other structures to ensure their strength, stability, and safety. This role involves applying engineering principles, advanced mathematics, and technical knowledge to create durable structures that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.
Responsibilities
- Create structural designs for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Analyze forces, stresses, and loads to determine structural integrity and safety.
- Select appropriate materials and construction methods to meet project specifications.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Collaborate with architects and other engineers to integrate structural plans into broader project designs.
- Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Monitor project progress, address on-site challenges, and ensure timely delivery.
- Identify potential structural risks and develop solutions to mitigate them.
- Conduct tests and inspections on-site to validate structural performance.
- Ensure all designs and constructions comply with building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Stay updated on changes to industry standards and practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
- 2-5 years of experience in structural design and project management
- Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in CAD software and structural analysis tools (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD).
- Strong understanding of materials science, physics, and mathematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
